Lesley Dobbie - Owner and OptometristLesley Dobbie

Lesley Dobbie graduated from Glasgow College of Technology in 1989, and from there carried out her pre registration year in the Glasgow Eye Infirmary and  Kilgour Optometrists in Ayr. Following registration  with the General Optical Council in 1990, she took up a full time post with Kilgour Optometrists.

Kilgours had close links with the hospital eye service and as a result had many unusual and challenging cases. Lesley therefore obtained a wealth of experience in dealing with large range of patients, with all sorts of problems. She stayed with Kilgours for 14 years, ultimately becoming a partner in the business.

In 2004, Lesley parted company with Kilgours to raise her three children. During this time she worked part time as a locum in many practices in Ayrshire.

In 2011 the practice of Ian Faith in Ayr and Galston became available, and Lesley was keen to start a new chapter in her career with a new business.

Lesley has a keen interest in children's eyecare, diabetes and contact lenses.

Christine Morrison – Optometrist

Started in the practice in August 2014.Christine Morrison - cropped

After leaving school, she began working in the optometry profession as a receptionist, then became a qualified dispensing optician after completing a correspondence course. In 2001 started training to become an optometrist at Cardiff University.

Christine qualified as an optometrist in 2006 and, after working in Glasgow for a couple of years, moved to Australia where she worked in Brisbane for 5 years. Since returning to the UK, she has become accredited in diabetic screening and is currently studying for an independent prescribing qualification, to diagnose and treat eye conditions within the practice, without the need for attending hospital.

In her spare time, Christine likes swimming, reading and horse riding.

Gail Nicholson - Optometrist

Started in the practice in November 2016.

Gail graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2012 and qualified in 2013.  She carried out her pre-registration year at Kilgour Optometrists, where she continued to work for a further 3 years.  Since qualifying Gail has become accredited in diabetic screening and post cataract reviews.  Gail brings a wide knowledge of complex eye conditions including hospital contact lens fitting to the practice.

Outside of work Gail enjoys running, going to the gym and taking her dog Otis for walks.

Dorothy Taylor - Dispensing Optician

Started in the practice in June 2016.

Dorothy began her optical career in 1990 as a receptionist with Special Eyes.  In 1997 she made a move to Boots Opticians and in 2007 studied the distance learning degree in ophthalmic dispensing and qualified as a dispensing optician in 2010.  Dorothy is here to advise on all types of lenses, spectacles frames - including advice on style, weight and colour, and how to care for your spectacles.  Dorothy will be in our Ayr practice on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and in Galston Mondays and Thursdays.

If you have any queries on current spectacles or questions on any future requirements call in to either practice to discuss with Dorothy, appointments available.

In her spare time Dorothy enjoys yoga and long walks with her dog Rudi.
